Movement Myth #1: “You need an hour to get a proper workout.” ⏳❌

This week I’m looking at a few common movement myths — the kind of things that can hold us back from getting started or keep us feeling stuck. Let’s clear them up and keep things simple and doable ✅

Ever missed a class because you felt short on time? It’s easy to think that if we don’t have a full hour, it’s not worth doing — but did you know even 10–15 minutes of movement can have real benefits? It all counts 💪

Plus once you start moving, it’s often easier to keep going 💫

My online Express Pilates sessions are perfect if you're short on time. Just 15 minutes long, you’ll find them in my 'Fit in 15' or 'Summer Sessions' packages. They’re quick, focused and ideal for busy days, or when your energy’s low but you still want to feel better in your body 🧘‍♀️

Little bursts of movement, done regularly, really do add up.

Movement Myth #1

This Alcohol Awareness Week has been a reminder that even moderate drinking can quietly impact how we sleep, recover, hydrate and feel, things that really matter when it comes to our health.

But here’s the good news, we can make small tweaks which can make a huge difference to our health. Swapping one glass for water, eating before you drink, timing alcohol around your exercise and staying hydrated can all help you feel more energised, less sluggish and able to make more positive choices for your body.

Think twice before pouring that glass… or reaching for a second. A mindful choice today could mean more energy, better sleep and stronger workouts tomorrow. It’s not about cutting everything out, it’s about tuning into what your body needs now, not waiting until your GP tells you need to change. Small changes really do add up. 💪🍷💧

We often reach for a drink to take the edge off — a tough day, a stressful moment, or just to feel a bit lighter. But alcohol doesn’t fix the problem. In fact, it can make anxious thoughts or low mood worse, especially the next day when your body’s recovering 😞

If you’re feeling out of sorts, movement might be the better option. A few minutes of mindful breathing, side bends or gentle Pilates stretches can offer calm and clarity — without the emotional dip afterwards 🌬️🧘‍♀️

It helps shift energy, clear your head and reconnect you to your body — something alcohol simply can’t do 💫

Tonight, if you’re tempted to pour a glass to ‘unwind’, try rolling out your mat instead. You might be surprised how much better you feel after just a few minutes of moving and breathing ✨
