⚠️ Long post alert!!! ⚠️

It's only been 2 weeks since I did my last Pilates class, but it feels so much longer.

We've had Christmas which for most of us this means too much food, sweets, alcohol. Then you have the lack of movement and exercise due to the excess of food etc. You might then want to add in a few germs, hands up if you’ve been hit by cold, flu or even Covid this Christmas.

What effect does that have on the body? Well, I certainly feel that my clothes are a little tighter, I’m lacking in motivation, even opening the last tub of Quality Street seems an effort!!

So today I pressed the reset button. I put my big girl pants on and off I went, dragging two teenagers with me, to the coast. I honestly feel that as soon as I see the sea it just washes all the negativity away. We walked, we talked, they niggled with each other as siblings do, but the main thing was it felt like a reset, washing the heaviness of the Christmas festivities away.

So, what am I trying to say? If you can relate to this post, I want you to know you aren’t alone. You are allowed to have time off, you are allowed to have your Christmas cake and eat it. I think having time off from work/exercise/routine is so good, especially at Christmas however, it also highlights how much your body is affected by the change. It shows how quickly it effects your movement, mood, skin and even your sleep.

How can you change this? You need to find something that presses your reset button. It could be a trip to the coast like me, it could be a spring clean of the house. Whatever it is, when you’re ready, reset your button, find an activity you love and do it, get your body moving again. It won’t take long for you to notice the difference in your health. You don’t have to make big steps/changes, make small changes, these are generally the ones that you stick to, so they make the most impact.

If it’s Pilates that you love or want to try then as you probably already know, my classes start again next week.
