Why Do We Repeat Pilates Exercises?

1 min read

Have you ever noticed an exercise appearing in class and thought, I'm sure we've done this before? šŸ˜„

You probably have, and there's a reason for it.

Repeating Pilates exercises gives you the chance to become more familiar with the movement. You might notice your positioning more, feel where you're working or find that you have a little more control than you did before.

But repeating an exercise doesn't necessarily mean doing it in exactly the same way.

I can change the range of movement, position, pace or resistance. We might add a small ball or band, change where your arms are or simply ask you to focus on something different.

The exercise might look familiar, but your body can be getting a very different challenge.

And sometimes it's nice to realise that the exercise you once found really difficult doesn't feel quite so difficult anymore.

Is there a Pilates exercise you've noticed getting easier over time?
