Core Stability

đź’Ş What does your core actually do?

When we talk about “working your core” in Pilates and exercise, it's easy to think it just means doing lots of abdominal exercises. But your core has a much bigger job than that.

Your core is more than just your abdominal muscles. It includes muscles around your tummy, back, pelvis and hips that work together to support and stabilise your body.

Think about carrying a basket of washing, reaching into a cupboard, bending down to pick something up or getting up from a chair. Your core is helping you stay steady and control your movement through all of these everyday tasks.

That's why core stability is so important in everyday movement.

That's why Pilates isn't just about strengthening your tummy. It's about learning to use your whole body with control and stability.

So next time you're carrying the washing basket, notice how your body works together to keep you

steady. Your core is doing more than you might realise!

What everyday activity makes you really notice your core?
