Menopause Facts

October is Menopause Awareness Month, and this year the focus is on Lifestyle Medicine, the everyday choices that can make a big difference to how we experience menopause and beyond. Over the next week I’ll be sharing tips, facts and gentle reminders to help you feel more in control of your health during this stage of life.

👉 Today’s focus: aching joints and frozen shoulder.

These symptoms might not be the first thing people think of when they hear the word menopause, but falling oestrogen levels affect more than periods and hot flushes. Oestrogen helps to protect bone, muscle and joint tissue, so when it drops, stiffness, pain and even frozen shoulder can appear.

This is exactly where lifestyle medicine comes in. Regular movement, stretching, strength work and good nutrition can all support joint health, ease stiffness and help you keep doing the things you love. Small, consistent steps really can make a difference.
