Diabetes Awareness Week

It's Fact Friday and this week, for Diabetes Awareness Week, I want to share some facts about diabetes. 💙

🧠 FACT: Type 2 diabetes now affects over 4.4 million people in the UK and an estimated 13.6 million are at increased risk. But did you know up to 50% of type 2 diabetes cases could be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes alone?

Exercise is one of the most powerful tools available 👇

🚶‍♀️ Walking — improves insulin sensitivity and helps muscles use glucose more efficiently. Even short, regular walks make a measurable difference to blood sugar levels

🧘 Pilates — reduces cortisol (the stress hormone that raises blood sugar), improves circulation and builds the functional strength that supports an active lifestyle long term

💤 Better sleep — which both Pilates and walking support, is directly linked to better blood sugar regulation. Poor sleep raises insulin resistance significantly

🌿 Reduced inflammation — chronic low-grade inflammation plays a role in type 2 diabetes, and regular gentle exercise is one of the most effective ways to reduce it

None of this requires running marathons or joining a gym. It requires consistent, enjoyable, sustainable movement.

That's exactly what we do every week. 💜

Share this with someone who might find it useful 🙏💙
