It's Fact Friday and we're closing Mental Health Awareness Week with some genuinely brilliant facts about exercise and mental health. đź’š

🧠 FACT: Regular physical activity reduces the risk of depression by up to 30% and can be as effective as antidepressants for mild to moderate depression, according to research published in the British Medical Journal.

Exercise affects the brain in multiple powerful ways 👇

🌿 It increases serotonin and dopamine — mood boosting neurotransmitters

💤 It improves sleep quality — and poor sleep is one of the biggest drivers of poor mental health

🧠 It reduces cortisol — lowering the physical effects of stress on the body and brain

🤝 It builds community — and loneliness is one of the greatest threats to mental wellbeing

You don't need to run a marathon. You don't need to push yourself to exhaustion. A Pilates class, a Walkfit™ session, a gentle stretch at home, these things matter enormously for your mental as well as your physical health. 💜

Take care of your mind. Move your body. They are not separate things.

If you're struggling with your mental health, please reach out to someone you trust. đź’ś
