Pilates Control

1 min read

Pilates can feel very different from other types of exercise, and that's part of what I love about it.

It's not simply about how many repetitions you can complete or how quickly you can move.

Pilates control asks you to think about how you're moving. Where are you starting from? Can you keep the movement steady? Are you using momentum or are your muscles actually doing the work?

Sometimes a smaller, slower movement can feel much more challenging than a bigger one.

That attention to how you move is one of the reasons the same exercise can feel completely different when you really focus on it.

Next time you're on the mat, try thinking less about getting to the end of the exercise and more about what you notice along the way.
