Walkfit™ Wednesday! 🌿

This May, as part of Action on Stroke Month, I want to share something close to my heart.

My mum recently had a stroke. And one of the things that has come up time and again in her recovery is the importance of walking. 💜

Walking is one of the most recommended forms of movement in stroke rehabilitation. Here's why it matters so much 👇

🧠 It challenges the brain — stroke recovery involves retraining neural pathways, and rhythmic, coordinated movement like walking is brilliant for this

❤️ It supports cardiovascular health — essential for reducing the risk of a second stroke

⚖️ It helps with balance and coordination — two things that are often affected after stroke

😊 It boosts mood and reduces anxiety — recovery is hard, and walking offers a gentle, manageable win

You don't have to run. You don't have to walk far. Even short, regular, gentle walks make a measurable difference over time.

If you or someone you love is in stroke recovery, please know that movement, however small, is powerful medicine. And if you want a gentle, safe, supported place to start, Walkfit™ is exactly that. 💜
