I want to talk today about rest, it's something that often gets overlooked in the world of fitness and wellness.
We live in a culture that equates being busy with value, and it has made a lot of us feel almost uncomfortable doing nothing. But rest is not laziness. Rest is not wasted time.
Rest is when your body repairs.
Rest is when your nervous system recovers.
Rest is when your muscles rebuild.
Rest is when your mind processes and resets.
In Pilates, we understand that recovery is part of the work. You cannot build strength without rest. You cannot manage stress without rest. You cannot stay well without rest. 🌿
So this Sunday, give yourself full permission to rest. To sit still. To do nothing in particular. To simply be. đź’ś
And if your brain is telling you that you should be doing something more productive, that's probably the most telling sign of all that rest is exactly what you need. 🌿
What does a proper rest day look like for you? For me I'm still loving my jigsaws, so spending an hour or so with a cuppa and a jigsaw is just bliss. It helps keep my mind quiet. 👇
