Fact Friday

This week, in celebration of National Walking Month, I'm sharing some walking facts that I find amazing. 🚶‍♀️💜

🧠 FACT: Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 35%.

But the benefits go far beyond the heart 👇

🦴 Walking is weight-bearing — which means it helps maintain bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis, something particularly important for women over 45

🧠 It's brilliant for brain health — regular walking increases the size of the hippocampus, the part of the brain involved in memory and learning

🩸 It regulates blood sugar — even a short walk after eating reduces blood sugar spikes and improves insulin sensitivity

😴 It improves sleep — people who walk regularly fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply

🤝 It's social — walking with others reduces loneliness and increases feelings of connection and belonging

Thirty minutes. Five days a week. That's it. 💜

Whether you walk outside, join a Walkfit™ class or pop on an online session at home, every step is doing something brilliant for your body. 🌿
